Over 6,500 Items – Every Blade Tells a Story
Velkaris is a world in which no one wears the same equipment twice. Through the interplay of fifteen slots, three materials, five weapon types, eleven upgrade levels, and a random quality roll, more than 6,500 possible items are created — and each of these items can additionally be sealed with runes and refined through class-specific bonuses. Two warriors of the same level can look completely different in Velkaris, fight completely differently, and in the end win — or lose — the same battle. The blade matters. But the right blade matters far more.
Three Materials, Three Playstyles
Every piece of armor is forged from one of three materials —
and the material determines not only the appearance, but your entire gameplay identity.
It determines which attributes can be carried, how high the base defense will be, and against which type of damage you are best prepared.
Metal – the material of the front line. Heavy plates, crowned helmets, and riveted boots carry Strength and Health. Those who wear metal want to absorb blows and strike their enemies down within half a step. Magical attacks glance off metal; curved blades, however, find their way through it more easily.
Leather – the compromise between protection and mobility. Leather scales with Agility, Precision, and Evasion. It is the choice of those who do not wish to stand where an arrow may strike them — but who know that distance alone is not enough. Rogues, archers, and pathfinders swear by tanned suede and stitched fur collars.
Cloth – the garment of the enlightened. Cloth carries Intelligence, Stamina, Spirituality, and a measure of Evasion. Mages weave runes into their robes, healers embroider glyphs into their cloaks. Those who wear cloth do not trust in steel, but in their own mind — and a few reflexes when the first strike comes.
Each material additionally forms the foundation for its own set families. Whoever gathers a complete cloth set does not enter the battlefield as a warrior in disguise, but as what they truly are: a being of words, energy, and very little patience.
Four Weapon Families
A weapon in Velkaris is not simply a weapon. It is the declaration of your combat philosophy and automatically determines which class you currently are.
Melee Weapons – swords, axes, warhammers, spears. They scale with Strength and critical damage. Whoever wields them looks their opponent in the eyes, smells their blood, and lives by surviving the first wound. Melee blades strike hard, demand courage — and reward it with the highest single-target damage values in the game.
Ranged Weapons – bows, crossbows, throwing daggers. They scale with Agility and hit chance. Ranged fighters are the quiet hunters of Velkaris, preparing a shot while others are still screaming. Whoever fights from a distance sees the battlefield more clearly — and not rarely discovers loot that others have missed.
Magic Weapons – staffs, orbs, scepters, and bound tomes. They scale with Intelligence and critical chance. Magic damage ignores physical resistances, making it the sharpest tool against armored targets — though at the cost of one’s own vulnerability. Magic is a wager: high risk, high reward.
Healer Weapons – staffs and scepters with pure light signatures. They scale with Spirituality, empowering healing and healer damage alike. In large battles, victory or defeat is rarely decided by the hardest hitter — but by the healer who pulls their sword brother back to his feet in the final round.
Shield – the fifth hand. A shield is not its own weapon family, but a deliberate choice: leave the second hand free for more damage, or place a shield before it for significantly greater toughness. Whoever carries a shield is automatically considered a melee fighter — regardless of what is held in the other hand.
Eleven Upgrade Levels – from Training Piece to Legend
Every item can be upgraded eleven times, from Common through Rare and Heroic all the way to Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. With every level, the stats increase massively — and with every level, the chance of success decreases. A Mythic weapon is an event in every world, one that sets the chat ablaze.
Quality Rolls – the hidden salt
Even two items of the same tier, the same slot, and the same upgrade level are rarely identical in Velkaris. During generation, every item additionally receives a quality roll — poor, average, or good — depending on how fitting the assigned values are for the respective weapon or material class.
A cloth robe that spawns with Spirit and Intelligence is a treasure. The same robe with Strength and Precision is fuel for the fire. Those who truly want to reach the top do not hunt for just any legendary sword. They hunt for the right one.
Rune Sockets – when items want to become more than steel
Items possess sockets into which runes can be inserted. Red runes increase damage, green stand for healing and speed, yellow grant critical strikes, blue strengthen defense against the three damage types and against critical hits, while white runes are the blacksmith’s tool of correction: with them, the last inserted rune can be removed again.
But setting no rune is not enough — and setting every rune is a risk. At higher levels, socketing can fail. In the best case, you lose only the new rune. In the worst case, it drags an entire cascade of old runes down into the abyss with it. Those who dare, win — or lose more than just the new rune.
“ A blade has two edges. A legend has infinitely many. ”
Consumables – the small things that decide battles
Alongside equipment, there exists in Velkaris a second class of items that may be quieter, but no less important: consumables. They disappear after use, but they can make the difference between victory and an inglorious entry in world chat.
Healing Potions
The simplest and most commonly used consumable. Potions close wounds and restore health points. They exist in multiple strengths — from the small flask for emergencies to the mighty elixir that still grants enough strength after a boss encounter in the Abyss to make it back home.
Upgrade Scrolls
The blacksmith’s promise. Whoever wishes to upgrade at high levels without losing their favorite item reaches for an upgrade scroll. These also exist in multiple variations — some protect against losing the item upon failure, others increase the success chance. Which one you choose depends on how much your sword is worth to you.
Talismans
The tribute of the socket. Before a rune can be inserted into a socket, a talisman must be present in the inventory. Talismans all function identically, but differ in their origin: some come from the consumables trade and are paid for with gold, others come from the premium shop for diamonds, while others drop exclusively deep within the Abyss as rare loot from the hardest bosses. Whoever hunts runes hoards talismans.
Protection Scrolls
The traveler’s silent veto. Whoever is about to go to bed, wants to eat a loaf of bread in peace, or simply needs rest reaches for a protection scroll. It renders your character untouchable for a fixed duration — in several stages, from a few hours up to a full day.
A tool, not a cure-all: whoever lives constantly under protection builds no power. But whoever breaks a scroll at the right moment sometimes saves an entire career.
