Lore – The Chronicle of Crossed Blades
Before the time when humans counted days, the world rested nameless between the horns of two deities — Velka, the Bringer of Blades, and Karis, the Keeper of Healing. From their eternal conflict, the first blade was born: not a weapon, but a promise. Whoever wielded it would bring harm — but would also have to find a cure.
From the shadow of this first blade, two drops fell. One became the earth into which Velka drove her swords. The other became the water in which Karis washed her wounds. Thus the land of Velkaris came into existence — named after the two who still watch over it to this day.
“ It is said that whenever two swords cross, the gods listen. ”
Humans – Children of Steel
Humans were the last to arrive in Velkaris — but they were also the quickest to learn. Where Orcs possessed strength, Elves elegance, and Fae magic, humans possessed steel. They built walls from stone, forged kingdoms, and have since proven that patience and discipline can compete with any bonus.
Orcs – Sons of the First Wound
When Velka, in her fury, tore open the earth, the first Orcs crawled from the wound. Strong, scarred, stubborn. They took a sword into their hands before they could speak, and they understood earlier than all others that power in Velkaris must be paid for — with sweat, with blood, with gold. That is why they work faster, strike harder, and mine deeper than anyone else.
Elves – Heirs of the First Library
The Elves were born when Karis organized the ancient writings after his first healing. From the words he left behind came beings who keep eternal lists, forge eternal contracts, and maintain eternal markets. No one negotiates more elegantly than an Elf — and no one guards their share more relentlessly.
Fae – Voices of the Unseen Garden
Long before the other peoples awakened, the first garden bloomed between the roots of the world — a place neither Velka nor Karis ever entered. From its blossoms rose the Fae, the fairy folk. They age slowly, speak softly, hear more than they say, and understand the small things better than anyone else. Whoever tends a garden tends the heart of Velkaris.
The land of Velkaris shattered into five regions, each with its own myth:
- The Forest — the first homeland, where the blades had not yet spoken.
- The Swamp — the memory of the world, where everything from the past slowly sinks away.
- The Mountains — the spine of the land, claimed alike by Orcs and Goblins.
- The Ruins — monuments of fallen kingdoms, in whose cellars arcane voices still circle.
- The Abyss — the final gate behind which the oldest gods rest. Whoever opens it claims their reward — or their death.
The Return of the Worlds
It is said that Velka and Karis never settled their conflict. Instead, they created many worlds unfolding across their realms. Every world is granted its time. Every world experiences its heroes. But when the embers of a world fade away, the gods pour its ashes together with those of other worlds into a new crucible.
Thus the world mergers are born. What you built in your world is not forgotten — it moves with you into the next world and fights there against heroes who themselves came from older worlds. Velkaris forgets nothing. Velkaris rarely forgives.
The Present
Today, countless heroes live in Velkaris across countless worlds. Four classes, four races, five regions — and one single task: to forge your own blade from the first one.
Perhaps your story ends in a forest as the prey of a wolf. Perhaps it ends in the Abyss as the terror of the next generation.
One thing, however, is certain: it ends within the annals of Velkaris. And whoever is written into the book remains there forever.
“ We are all ink. Velkaris is the pen. ”
